Baby teeth left in adulthood

Question:

I have two baby teeth still in my top row, but being in my twenties I'm not sure what my best option would be. Would lingual braces or Invisalign work

Answer:

This really depends on whether these baby teeth are out of alignment or whether they just look odd or small compared to the adjacent adult teeth. When deciduous (baby) teeth have been retained into adulthood, they often become ankylosed (fused to the bone) and are resistant to movement.

Invisalign is certainly an excellent option for aligning teeth in adults and teenagers who have an aversion to braces. I've used it with great success in my practice for a variety of cases, ranging from simple realignment of one or two teeth to complex cases of crowding.

If your retained deciduous teeth look odd because of their size, then cosmetic treatments such as bonding or porcelain overlays can be bonded to these teeth to alter their appearance and profiles so they match your other adult teeth.
