Question:

I brush my teeth after I've eaten anything. My friends brush before they eat. One of my friends also says that you should brush an hour after eating to protect the enamel. When is the best time to brush your teeth?

Answer:

Generally the best time to brush is when the teeth are most susceptible to demineralisation, namely, soon after eating food. It is at this time that pH levels in saliva drop and the teeth are subjected to acidic attack. Brushing will help to neutralise the effects of acid quickly and efficiently.
