In a sad twist of fate, it seems that Sheyla Hershey, the Houston woman who underwent 30 breast augmentations to obtain the world's largest boobs at size 38KKK, may lose her breasts, or even her life to them.
Because of laws in Texas limiting the amount of silicone that can be implanted into one person, the 32-year-old went to Brazil last year for surgery to boost her boobs to their current size, which then held an amazing 2.51 litres of silicone each.
However, she returned to Texas to discover that that she had also come back with a severe staph infection in both breasts, with doctors warning that the infection would be life-threatening if it spread any further.
Hershey was given a strong course of antibiotics, but the treatment only appeared to work in one breast, so Hershey went back into surgery yesterday to remove the latest set of implants this portending the possibility that her over-sized knockers may just be knocked off the Guinness record books.
But, Hershey hopes it won't come to this. She hasn't yet lost her title as the woman with "The World's Biggest Enchanced Breasts", and says she aims to increase their size again in the next few months.
Infection is just one of the health risks of breast augmentation, which can also cause back pain, hematoma, implant rupture or leakage of silicone into the body, and a loss of sensitivity in nipples. That's a lot to worry about after you consider the $4000 to $10,000 price tag!
Even though Hershey is no longer able to find clothing that fits, tie her shoelaces, or go for a run, she says she loves her breasts "like they are my kids" the kids she can no longer play with, presumably.
