Uncomfortable periods

"I suppose with the busy life you lead it is hard for you to get enough rest, but it is very important, so try to factor it in."

Question:

I am 40 years old and get my period every 21 to 28 days. The problem is that the day before my period I feel like I am coming down with a head cold. The glands in my neck swell, I have headaches and I ache all over. Basically I feel unwell. I am a busy mum, student and partner who needs to be well and this really affects my life. Could you recommend something that might help with this?

Answer:

Sounds like your immunity could do with a boost. The best thing you could do is to see a naturopath and get a remedy based on your individual case. If this is not an option you could take immunity-boosting herbal supplements such as echinacea and olive leaf, and take zinc, vitamin C (5000mg) and a good B complex.

I suppose with the busy life you lead it is hard for you to get enough rest, but it is very important, so try to factor it in. Try to get lots of nutrients from eating a healthy diet. If you are very rushed, a daily vegie juice of carrot, celery, beetroot, apple and ginger is a nutrient-rich boost.
