WATCH: Trainer Amelia Burton joined Kerri-Anne live in the studio to show and discuss the benefits of Hula Hooping.

Hula hooping as a form of exercise has taken off in the US, with actress Liv Tyler and First Lady Michelle Obama both fans of the spinning plastic rings.

According to reports, using weighted hoops can tone lower back and stomach muscles, and users could burn up to 800 kilojoules in half an hour if spun continually.
