Big Daddy
I'd been overweight for six years. Looking back, my weight gain was caused by bad eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. I'd eat too much food as I didn't care when or how much I ate and when it came to exercise – I barely knew the meaning of it.

I got to the stage where I had no self confidence and hated having to shop in the Mr Big sections. I just wanted to fit into regular surf brands that weren't XXXL!

Time for action
After looking at photos of myself and tiring of feeling unfit, I decided to do something about it. I'd heard "Geez you've put on weight!", too many times!

I ditched my attitude of "I'll start next week" and started straight away, joining my local Weight Watchers Meeting on Monday afternoons. Everyone was helpful and really supportive. I was a bit of a novelty being the only male in the group!

I followed the Weight Watchers Program exactly and it worked right from the start. I learned to downsize my meal portions and gradually swapped junk food for healthy snacks like fruit. I decided to get some exercise into my life and started swimming and running four times a week.

Throughout my journey, the Weight Watchers cookbooks became my bible! The whole family enjoys the healthy recipes plus they offer a variety of cuisines. Now I know that you can still have fun when you go out - just by choosing healthy options. I know what types of food I should eat and how much.

Fab Dad!
Since losing 40kg and 25cm from my waist – lots of things in my life have changed. My daughter is very happy that I can play with her for a lot longer and my wife is so proud and supportive of what I've achieved. My sister has even joined after being inspired by my success.

I have so much energy now! I've joined the gym and even competed in two ironman competitions which include a 2km swim, 90km cycle and 21km run. I even beat my goal times! I've reclaimed my confidence and now people don't look at me as a fat guy at the surf shop when I take a medium size shirt off the rack!
