Why aren't you losing weight?
"Weight Watchers can offer a variety of tips to help you break the bad habits that can keep you from reaching your weight loss goals."

Weight loss isn't a simple matter. To succeed, you must change behaviours that are getting in your way. There are small changes you can incorporate into your daily routine to achieve your weight-loss goals.

Skipping breakfast

Running late for work again? Before you bolt out the door on nothing but a cup of coffee, be aware that skipping breakfast can be bad news for weight loss. Chances are, you're going to feel hungry later – and that may be when you have less access to healthy food and are more likely to reach for a doughnut.

Antidote: Keep something on hand that you can eat on the run, such as fruit, yoghurt or low-fat cereal bars.

Feasting on family favourites

When your kids or spouse have a favourite family meal, it's hard to ban it from your menu list. Family favourites, such as lasagna, are often high in fat and kilojoules.

Antidote: Serve yourself a smaller serving of the main meal and a large serving of vegetables or salad. It's also a good idea to try to find a lower-fat version of the family favourite.

Social overeating

Eating whatever you wanted at a restaurant was OK in the days when people ate out only a few times a year. But these days we dine out every week, if not every day.

Antidote: Search the menu for meals cooked using low-fat methods, such as grilling or stir-frying, and ask for sauces and dressings on the side. That way you can control how much you have.

Not counting every bite

A few potato chips while you open the mail. Just a few cookies while you help the kids with their homework. When we snack, we tend to be standing up or have our attention focused on another task. This can lead to thinking the kilojoules "don't count". Unfortunately, they do.

Antidote: Set ground rules, such as "I don't eat in the car or while I'm watching television." And always, keep track of everything you eat during the day. Knowing you'll have to write it down will make you think twice about having that one bite.

Expecting too much too soon

After several months of dedication you're down in the dumps – you feel the scale has barely moved. Expecting too much weight loss too soon is an extremely common blunder. A healthy rate of weight loss is up to one kilo a week. But many people aim for more than that, then feel like failures and give up when they don't reach that unrealistically high goal.

Antidote: Make "slow and steady" your mantra. If you really don't believe that one kilo lost amounts to much, lift one kilo of butter the next time you're at the supermarket. You'll realise how well you're doing.

I cannot understand why all the experts say that skipping breakfast will result in binging or eating more and putting on weight. I am no expert but I must admit from my own personal experiences over the years, that when I skip breakfast and just have lunch and dinner I lose more weight than if I were to have breakfast. If you can manage to start the day with a coffeee or just a piece of fruit you will be cutting total calories consumed for the day . Just don't pig out at lunch time. It works for me! I really only struggle in winter when you feel like a hot breakfast or tea and toast or on a holiday with the 'all you can eat buffet' breakfast. Bad Bad and all bad. It is really important too as a mother of young children that you spend time at the dinner table eating a good meal with your kids and not focusing on dieting. The morning is busy and they wont even notice or care that you haven't eaten breakfast . Its all about making sure they have it before rushing off to school.
Go Paleo healthy, rewarding and delicious - look it up and get onto it Fruit, vegetables, meat, seafood, nuts and seeds cut out the dairy cut out the processed foods cut out bad carb you'll feel healthy and lose the weight Look it up and get started
This is a great article all the incidental things make a HUGE difference to weight loss. The only thing that isn't good are the cereal bars which were mentioned. Whilst they may be "low fat" they are "high in sugar" so the sugar that you don't burn turns into fat. Those bars are rubbish. You are better off seeing a Nutritionist and getting into a brand called Metagenics. It's only available through a Nutritionist and they have soy versions for those lactose intollerant people. Breaky is definately very important. The other thing to consider is poor circulation. You may be exercising but if the circulation is poor to that area you will find the weight loss difficult. Ie Majority of women are pear shaped and their low level of circulation is stomach, hips, buttocks and thighs (cue pear shape) and some women and most men are their stomachs (cue apple shape). I am just finishing a 4 week course of Hypoxi and it works really well. I've lost 4kgs and 36cms over those areas. Nothing's easy!
a) Cut out anything artificial. Chemicals additives don't belong in food. b) Avoid anything with vegetable oil on the label, it's probably an artificial trans fat. c) Easy on the carbs.

Losing weight is easy. Changing your eating habits forever can be the difficult bit, but is the only way you can maintain healthy weight. I have done it and it does take time, for me about 2 years. For those on the path stay strong, I cannot stand fast food these days, my taste buds have evolved to enjoy only fresh foods. Of course regular exercise is essential as well. Looking in the mirror whilst standing on the scales and feeling physically good all the time is the reward.
Would of liked one day plan to show you what foods you can eat. Or Christmas goodies you can eat that are low calories Did like the idea of eating smaller serve of lasanga
Hi, my name is Lee though everyone calls me Lanny, i had a cholesterol check done 2 weeks ago and unfortunately its high so ive told myself thats it time to lose weight, ive lost 3 kilos in the last 2 weeks. What i have been doing is more or less just eating healthy, no sweets, no fatty foods, and doing some sort of activity every day, whether its going for a brisk short walk or going to the supermarket to pick up some fresh fruit and parking ur car as far away from the entrance as possible so then you can get some excercise walking there as well as back to ur car while u shop for some fresh fruit lol. I think the first 3 weeks is the hardest, but after that it gets alot easier because ur body starts to adjust. Hope this was helpful, thanks LEE.
